BBC Two Scotland is a television station operated by BBC Scotland. It is broadcast via digital television and is the sister Scottish channel of BBC One Scotland.
Although listed as a separate station by some guides, 'BBC Two Scotland' and 'BBC Two Scotland (Digital)' are effectively the same channel, broadcasting identical feeds as part of the moves to digital-only switchover.
Similarly to BBC One Scotland, BBC Two Scotland offers differing programming from the UK-wide network specifically aimed at Scottish viewers. Often, this is more specialised programming such as Artworks Scotland, Holyrood Live and the Gaelic strands branded as BBC Two (Dhà) Alba. Also, on weeknights, Newsnight Scotland opts out of the main Newsnight programme from 11 o'clock onwards.
During the daytime and overnight schedules, BBC Scotland replaces some of the national education programming for shows better targeted at the separate Scottish education system and replacing some politics strands with coverage of Scottish politics. BBC Sport Scotland will sometimes use BBC Two Scotland to broadcast live coverage of more minority sports, such as athletics and shinty, with some sports such as mountain biking and cross-country showcased in The Adventure Show. Additionally, on Sunday nights BBC Two Scotland has become the regular home for Sportscene's highlights of the SPL, preceding Match of The Day 2.
Recent examples of BBC Two Scotland programmes include:
BBC Two Scotland can be seen on all television platforms in Scotland, on channel 2, or 102, depending on the system, and in other areas of the UK via satellite and on some other digital television platforms. Programmes shown exclusively on BBC Two Scotland can also be watched again across the UK for 7 days after transmission on the BBC iPlayer service.
